Sexy Peel Soap from LUSH!!!

First of all, lets talk about the fact that I have never used a single Lush product up until this point. I am not much of a bath person so when my husband went to Vegas and stopped into a Lush store we had decided on just soaps since we are more of the shower types. I gave him a list of products that I felt "sounded" like something I would enjoy the scent of. When he brought home that crinkly little deli style bag full of soaps it was intoxicating! I immediately wrapped them in Saran wrap and stuck them in our pretty little basket of soaps in our restroom. If anything...these soaps make wonderful air fresheners. lol! The first soap I decided to try was Sexy Peel. I thought it would be a great choice since it's the end of summer. This soap smells so incredibly yummy that I even snuck a little lick to see if it actually tasted like fresh lemons. (Weirdo alert...lol) This is a golden yellow soap infused with natural lemon, lime, and citrus scents. It contains real rhines from different citrus fruits which really makes for an interesting shower.

EVERY Time I took a shower our entire second story smelled like lemon zest. It was great! The texture of the soap however was really odd. Citrus rhines actually fall out of the soap while you shower which is a little weird and slimy, but not to irritating. I didn't feel like this soap left my skin smelling like the lovely citrus scent at all. From the strong scent in the shower I was expecting this soap scent to linger on my skin all day. My Lust bubble was shattered when I stepped out of the shower and realized that this couldn't be farther from the truth. The soap seemed to be done and gone freakishly fast too. It lasted my husband and I probably a whopping two weeks. Drugstore soap can usually last us a full month per bar. The lather on this soap wasn't anything spectacular and I didn't feel like my skin had been amazingly moisturized either. BUT....Yes everyone...there is a HUGE BUT. lol! I suffer from mild eczema and have occasional breakouts of bumps on my elbows and triceps area. Recently I had a breakout and I had been slathering Cortisone cream on it along with exfoliating and had no luck. So, Even though this soap only survived for 2 weeks in our shower, after a week and a half I came to the huge realization that my arms were SMOOTH! I was washing my arms and didn't feel a single bump. Since citric acids are natural exfoliates and these soaps are handmade and fresh, the ingredients literally wiped away my eczema breakout. This was the only change I had made in my regimen. I hadn't even been using my creams anymore because I had just given up on it. Here are my stats:

Smell: A +
Appearance: B
Texture: B
Lather: B-
Clean feeling after shower:B
Moisturizing: C
Skin benefits: A+
Good for shaving: D-
Repurchase item: A+

I would definitely repurchase this soap in a heartbeat even if it does come with a bit of a pricey price tag because it took away those pesky little bumps on my arms that can ruin any woman's tank top wearing days. Now onto the next soap in our little basket which is Demon in the Dark! Perfect for the upcoming Halloween season! Don't you think!?!

Date Night!

So, I haven't written on this blog in a while, but I am going to try my best to be good and stay on top of things because I love to write. :) Anyways...My hubby and I finally had a date night tonight which is kind of rare for us since we both work night jobs. He is a bartender/manager and I help run a karaoke business. Our schedules completely collide. So when we have the chance to have a date night we jump on it. First off we went to The Olive Garden. Now...Why would a girl on The Atkin's diet even attempt to step foot in a place full of pasta right? lol! I was actually really surprised at a dish the kitchen came up with. I got these little steak medallions that were supposed to go over fettuccine with alfredo sauce and the cook used sliced zucchini instead of the pasta. It was sooooo good! We went to the movies and saw "The Last Exorcism" which was a big let down. I LOVE scary movies and the ending to this one was just completely lame. If you've seen it, You know exactly what I'm talking about.

Speaking of The Atkin's diet, I have lost about 12-13lbs in a little over a month now. Being that I've felt a little tempted by food and kind of cheating here and there, I bought The Atkins book today. So, I have decided to start reading it and get back on the wagon by Monday. I haven't fallen completely off the diet, but I find myself picking at foods that I shouldn't be here and there. I just needed some inspiration. I am not pushing this diet in any way and I don't recommend it if you're under the age of 18. I have to lose weight for health reasons and to get back into my weight range. After trying several diets and suggestions from my doctor, I found that this is what has worked best for me. I was about 20lbs over my weight range which literally happened in a matter of 2-3 months. I am used to being very petite and my joints aren't used to the stress that the excess weight has put them through. Poor little bones...lol! I will keep you all posted on everything and I am hoping to get my workouts going this next week. Love you all!

Update on Project 10 Pan

So, I just wanted to update you all on project 10 pan. As we know, I decided to include ALL beauty products in my project since I have an excess amount of things that are half finished. I have to admit that I cheated a little bit. :/ My best friend and I bought a couple of nail polishes the other day that were gorgeous and only 99cents each. I couldn't pass them up! Not only that, but I ran into an entire rack of NYX lip and eye pencils that were only a $1.00! What's a girl to do right? lol! No one said this was going to be easy, but I am not going to let myself slip again. I think I'm doing pretty well considering this is my first time approaching project 10 pan.

Anyways, I've completely finished 4 products so far and I am almost done with 2 more. This is taking a lot more time than I actually thought it would. Haha! My April Favorites video might not be so fun since i haven't really allowed myself to buy anything, but the items I talked about above. Since I'm re-shopping my own belongings it will have stuff that I forgot about and bought because I liked it in the first place. :)

So, for those of you who have joined me on P10P....Good Luck and keep on doing what you're doing to keep yourself away from the make-up counters!

Helpful tips for P10P

Hey Everyone! So, I thought I'd share some helpful tips for Project 10 Pan. I know that for all of us beauty junkies it's super hard to stick to finishing ten beauty products in its entirety. So, I thought of some helpful ways to get us all past this project a little faster and easier. Today I went through ALL of my make-up and beauty products. I don't know about you guys, but I can have certain eyeshadows, face moisturizers, face washes etc and will be half way done or 3/4 of the way done when I go out and buy a new one. From that point on the "almost" finished item remains in a make-up case or on the shelf adding clutter to our collections. With that in mind, I went through my items and pulled out all the products that were either almost finished, I had already hit pan on, or were about to expire. I'm putting these in a separate cosmetics bag and when I do my make-up I will try my best to pull these items out first and see if I can use any of these items to incorporate into the look I'm going for. This way...I can get rid of the clutter and finish Round 1 of P10P pretty quickly. Now...In my project I am not only including cosmetics, but I am also including face washes, eye make-up removers, toners, hair products, body creams, or anything else I have excess amounts of. I have also made a rule for myself as well. I have seen and heard of a lot of make-up gurus finishing P10P successfully and then going out that very evening to purchase a whole load of cosmetics! I am going to wait at least a week AFTER I have completed the project to allow myself to purchase any beauty items. This will curb that impulse buying rage. lol! Anyways...Wish me luck and I wish all of you who are joining me luck as well!

Hello...My name is Hayley and I'm a make-up addict

Ugh! Ok guys...I think I seriously have a problem. I have going nuts buying cosmetics, make-up, new stuff that I see like crazy!!! What's a girl to do right? I am drawn in by the lovely bright colors, smooth textures, and glittery items that sit on cosmetics shelves. I can't help myself. But, this is getting out of hand. I can not walk into my local grocery store without walking out with some sort of beauty item. I am starting to make excuses for my bad behaivor. EX: Oh...it's only 99 cents. I think I lost the other one. (Then stumble across 4 of that same item I JUST bought!) But, it's brand new...I have to try it. The truth is...I don't have to try it! When I have drawers, caboodles, and training cases stuffed with make-up, I really don't NEED it. So, A couple of blogs ago I had said I was going to "think" about starting Project 10 Pan. ( Read other blog to know what this is.) I started a little project with my body moisturizers and so far so good. I'm more than half way done with 2 of them! Yay! Go me! Anyways...I am going to follow some of the other Youtube beauty gurus and jump on the band wagon of P10P. This means I can not buy any make-up until I have completely finished 10 cosmetic items! This is going to be insanly hard for me. The only thing I'll allow myself to buy are my staple items such as: Facial moisturizer ( If there isn't samples and such lying around), foundation, mascara, and face wash. I will try my best not to crack. I am going to dig out all the trial size stuff I have so I will use that up as well. I will count these items as well as part of my P10P.
I mean...I go out and get these free gifts with products in there to try and what have I done? I've left them lonely and sad with nary a brush to them or a finger in their little pots. :( Sad little products. So...If you want to join me on this little project along with several other youtubers I will welcome you with open arms! I will post pics and blogs to update you guys on my progress! Wish me luck and pray that I don't crack. :)

Survey

SKINCARE -
How many times do you wash your face daily?

Twice a day. I can NOT sleep with make-up on. Yucky!

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily, combo)
I guess normal/combo.

What is your current facial wash?

Skin Simple. It's discontinued, but I still have a couple of bottles stashed away. :)

Do you exfoliate?
Yes. Although some of the products I have bought say gentle enough to use everyday...I only do it twice a week. I don't want to rub my skin raw.

What brand do you use?

I have a couple. I just bought one that is made by the brand Big Sexy Hair. It's a basil citrus body scrub. It smells so good and works great. I also have a L.A.M.B. all over body scrub that is really moisturizing and smells beautiful and a Lavender Sugar Scrub that I got at the dollar tree. It works really well on your legs!!!

What moisturizer do you use?

I'm currently trying to get through some of my moisturizer collection so I'm using Victoria's Secret Dream Angels body moisturizer in Heavenly. It makes your skin so soft and it's not greasy at all. I'm also using Bath & Body Works cream in White Citrus. It's a great scent for spring!

Do you have freckles?
A few here and there. I have like 4 on my face.

Do you use eye cream?
Yes. I always use eye cream before applying my make-up. I'm currently using the eye cream from the Skin Simple line, but I'm not to crazy about it. I want to find a new one.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?

I'm very lucky that I never had acne prone skin. I did suffer from the occasional breakout and blackheads.

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
No. I've heard that it's so strong that it can bleach a rag! I wouldn't want to put that on my face.

MAKE-UP

What foundation do you use?
Loreal's True Match foundation. I love it!

How about concealer?
Estee Lauder's double wear.

Do you know your undertone color?

I have a lot of pink undertones.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?

I love them and use them occasionally. I find it hard to find really unique looking lashes, but when I do I snatch those babies up! It really amplifies your look.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes. We use the wand on our eye area and if you keep it more than 3 months it can harbor bacteria and cause eye infections.

What brand of mascara do you use?

I have a couple that I like but I have currently using Estee Lauder's Magnascopic Maximum volume mascara. It's actually my new favorite. It makes my lashes so thick!

Sephora or MAC?
That’s really hard to choose. I love them both! There's so many things at Sephora that I could never find at MAC, but MAC is original and I love it! I can't choose...lol!

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?
No...I should look into that.

What makeup tools do you use in make up application?
Brushes, eyelash curler, tweezers, tissue, and sponges.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yes...I either make my own (which I want to make a video on), or use a mac primer.

For the face?
No...I want to try a face primer, but I've heard a lot of them cause breakouts.

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?

I love MAC's Carbon, Mulch, Electric Eel, Aquadisiac, and the Hello Kitty Palettes.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I use both. I mostly use liquid on the top and always use pencil at the bottom.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
Not often unless the pencil needs sharpening and the wood pokes my eye. That really hurts.

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
I like them for creating a highlighted look on the center of the eye. I have a whole drawer full of pigments that used to be sold at the mall where I live. I have a little box of MAC pigments. A friend and I are actually going to swap some pigments soon.

Do you use mineral makeup?
No. It didn't work for me. I've tried a sample of Bare Mineral's foundation and it didn't have enough coverage. I've also used MAC's mineralize powder foundation and it seemed to powdery.

What is your favorite lipstick?

I like MAC's Angel, Pretty Please, and the new Lady Gaga lipstick.

How about lipgloss?
I love MAC's dazzleglass line and MAC lipglass in Oyster Girl. I really want to try NYX lipglosses. I've heard great things about them and they're under 5 dollars!

What is your favorite blush to use?
I usually use MAC's cream blush in Summer Lily I believe it's called. It's discontinued.

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
No. I've heard bad things about it.

Do you like drugstore makeup?
Of course I do! I just bought some Hard Candy make-up the other day at Walmart, I think Sally Hansen makes great nail polishes, Loreal has awesome foundation, Loreal HIP line makes beautiful eyeshadows, and E.L.F. makes one of my favorite eye shadow brushes!

Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)
I've actually never heard of that.

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
Yes. I wish you could just take make-up courses instead of having to go through the entire cosmetology courses.

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

Not really...but I do have days where it doesn't look the way I want it to.

Name a makeup crime that you hate?
I don't hate it...I just think this trend is misunderstood. Bronzer down the nose. Most people want to look bronzed and beautiful and on some people it does look great! I think it's misunderstood because if you want your nose to look slimmer you need to put highlighter down the center...bronzer down the center makes it look bigger. I also hate bleeding lips. Dark lipcolor that wasn't put on with care giving that clown mouth effect. It just looks sloppy and can happen to the best of us.

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral ones?
Oh yes! I'm in love with bright colors. I only have a couple of years left to be able to pull them off so I'm enjoying them while I can!

Which celebrity always has great make up?

Kim Kardashian, Jeniffer Lopez, Jeffry Star, and Kristen Cavallari.

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?

I do it all the time. I'm not embarrassed of my natural face. I love makeup, but if I don't have to wear it I won't. Our skin needs a rest from products sometimes.

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
I used to. I'm getting a little more redness in my skin.

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?

There are too many lines out there to pick just one.

What do you think of Makeup??

It's fun and you can create so many personalities on your face and get rid of it when the day is done!

Project 10 Pan and my little project!

So....being new to the whole Youtube beauty community I've been watching several videos and catching up with the lingo and current projects that are circulating. I found one of the projects "Project 10 Pan" to be really cool. Times are tough and with this economy we shouldn't be spending money frivolously on a bunch of items that we don't need. Project 10 Pan was I believe created by a youtuber (Lolipop26) however...I heard of a different project from Allthatglitters21. I love her and and her sister Blair. Too cute! Anyhow....she kind of did her own little spin on the project. Ok ok...what is Project 10 pan right??? lol! It's where you gather 10...YES just 10 of your make-up products besides the usual everyday stuff and use it ALL up (meaning you hit pan) before you spend anymore money on new items. Kind of a good idea huh? Well...I don't know if I'm that willing to use only 10 products for that long because I love to change my look so much. I figured I would put MY OWN little spin on this and start small. (I'm weak...I know! lol!)
I don't know about the rest of you guys and gals out there, but I have a vanity full of perfumes, body sprays, body washes, and creams. After my showers I moisturize when I can remember and I ran across this Bath and Body works cream that I had totally forgotten about. It looked like it been used once! I used it today and remembered why I bought this. It smells so delicious and crisp! The scent is white citrus. YUM! Anyways...this brings me to my next point. Sometimes we forget all the wonderful things that we have already purchased and get caught up in all the new stuff that is coming out which is the entire point of project 10 pan. We need to use what we've already bought so we don't have a collection of make-up that will either rot, never get used, was an impulse buy, or will end up looking like everything else in our drawers. (Similiar colors) So...since I decided to start small I decided that I would have to use at least 2 body moisturizers before I can purchase anymore. Then of course I will move on to body sprays, perfumes and all that other good stuff. Hey...A beauty junkie's gotta start somewhere right? Haha! So...when I move on I'll let you guys know so we can continue our journey together. This is a great way to save money, re shop what you already have, and of course get rid of some of that beauty clutter that all of us shop-a-holics/beauty junkies have lying around! Let me know what you guys choose to do!

I am going to use my Bath & Body Works White Citrus body moisturizer and my Victoria's Secret Dream Angels body cream in Heavenly!

PS...Don't forget to dig up those old Christmas/Birthday shower sets! lol!

How to try products out for less!

Hey Everyone! So today I was at my local grocery store and as usual I always browse through the beauty section. ;) Sometimes it amazes me how expensive hair products can be! I have seen 30 and even 40 dollar bottles of shampoos! That is crazy talk to me. So...as I was scanning the hair products I found a section that had tons of travel sized bottles. I began to look through the baskets and found some awesome little shampoos, pomades, hairsprays etc from .50 cents to 1.50. I read the bottles and decided to purchase a couple of these little suckers to try them out. As I walked farther down the isle I found those same brands in the full sized bottles and containers and began to look at the prices. These items (full sized) were 12.00 to 20.00. Wow! Not only that, but I went over to the travel isle (which most drugstores have) and began to look at the items there. These were less exclusive brands and of course it included face wash, body wash, shampoos, hairsprays, facial wipes for removing make-up etc. We all know that this isle can range from .50 cents to about 5.00. This got me to thinking.

A lot of times we see high end products and even drug store products and wonder what the big deal is. Why is this product so great? Why is it so high in price? It must work miracles! Then...we all fall into that, what I like to call, High End Product Fever!!! We must have it! If it is that high in price it must work. Right? Well, sometimes we go out of our ways and off of our budgets to be highly disappointed. So, now I get to try all these drugstore and high end products for less then 1.50 and decide if I like it or not! Wow! What a deal! If it works miracles then of course I might go out of my way to make that product a staple in my beauty regimen. If not...then I will NOT have to feel GUILTY for spending so much money on something that did nothing for me. All of our bodies and body chemistry are different. Sometimes things that are raved about just will not work for us due to the simple fact that it may not work with our body chemistry.

So....from now on be sure to visit your travel isles because there really are some great finds. I even found Biosilk conditioner for 50 cents! You never know what little treasures are hiding in all those little baskets and you get to try them out without breaking your pocket books! Good luck and happy hunting!

My internet was down! Boohoo

Hey everyone! Sorry I hadn't blogged in a couple of days. My internet was down which was a total bummer. I have so many upcoming looks and ideas for videos! I can't wait to share them with you. I have a lot of spring make-up looks with all the on trend shades for this season. I know I've been posting a lot of reviews and tips, but I'm barely getting the hang of this thing. :) Not only that, but I have to squeeze my tutorials into 10 minutes and sometimes I just need more time! The more you watch the more of a chance I have to do more break-it down/step-by-step tutorials! So...Keep watching. I'll have a couple of new vids in the next few days!

Just incase you didn't already know....

I shop at Sephora pretty frequently and until this last visit I had never been offered a Sephora Beauty Insider's card. So...When I asked what the card was I was super surprised and dissappointed that I had not recieved one before. Everytime you shop they swipe your little card. Every dollar equals 1 point. Once you get to 100 points or spend 100 dollars you get to choose I think 1 or 2 trial size samples of new items that are out. Not only that, but you also get to go in and redeem a birthday gift. Lucky me! My birthday is on friday! :)

So...I went in today to redeem my little birthday gift. They gave me a little box with 3 items in it. It came with a Sephora brand eyeshadow, eyeliner, and mascara. Pretty cool huh? So...Don't get locked out of that point system if you shop at Sephora. If you don't have a card make sure and ask for one. Tell them your friend Hayley told you about it! Geez....I would've had a ton of points by now. A little dissapointing but hey...at least I have it now. :) Peace and Love!

Spider veins, Pale legs or Stretch Marks???

I have the "never want to show my legs" syndrome! I have SUPER white legs. They are so white that when I wore capris in high school once I got called out while buying a soda. I'm not talking called out like..."Hey girl. Those legs are pretty white." I'm talking a dude yelling at the top of his lungs..."Dammmmnnnn! You are super white Hayley! You're legs are like paper white!" Ok...Tramatized much! So, When I started getting on the stage and got over the tanning beds after looking like a lobster several times, I ran into this product. It was new at the time (4 yrs ago) and I've been using it ever since. It's like panty hose in a bottle! It makes your legs feel smoother after you apply it. It covers spider veins (which I have), stretch marks, and can even make your legs look nice and golden! They have different colors of this product and I LOVE it! Want to know what it is? Click below! Peace and LOVE!

PS...My contour video got erased. I also got another tag! Yippee! I love doing tag videos!

Monday, February 22, 2010

Hello friends! So...I got tagged to do a video about my 8 most worn things. I LOVED doing this video becasue I love to answer questions. I feel like answering questions lets people get to know a little bit more about you. So...Check out my video!

Haha! Oh...and my bangs are growing out and driving me NUTS so I kept messing with them in the video...Haha!

My skin care routine and product reviews!

Hey everyone! So...I have tried A LOT of face washes, skin creams, make-up removers etc. I've tried Neutrogena, Biore, Tommy Hilfiger, Estee Lauder, MAC, Clean and Clear, Mary Kay, Avon, you get the picture! I NEVER wear my make-up to bed EVER EVER EVER! I wash my face twice a day and give myself a good at home facial when I feel it's needed. The key to getting your skin looking healthy and clear is to find products that work extremely well for you! Most of the products I will mention in the video are pretty much usable on everybody.

*Something I forgot to mention in the video. If you use Biore nose strips...be careful! When you pull it off don't pull it off like you're waxing your nose. LOL! I did that once and ended up with a bruise on my nose bone!

P.S. I got TAGGED! Woohoo! I'll be posting a video soon of my 8 most worn items!

Sephora Inspired Brush and Pencil holder!

Hola friends! So...we've all seen those lovely little brush holders that they have at Sephora. I decided to make a couple because I have so many brushes that are piled away in cosmetic bags and fold up brush bags. It's kind of hard to see them all and dig through them to look for what you need. So...Here's a fast, easy, and cheap way to make your own Sephora inspired brush holders at home!

*Money saving tip: Look at your local dollar store, garage sale, or flea markets for unique and cheap glass or plastic containers!

*Funky Flair: Make it your own by adding paint or rhinestones to the container!

P.S. Don't mind all that junk on my dresser! I'm organizing all my make-up as we speak! lol!

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I find inspiration in a lot of things. To many people I am a crazy and loud entertainer. They don't know the many corners of my mind which can be hard sometimes. In reality, I am a full on day dreamer. I will always be the little girl with big glasses....a nerd at heart if you will. Growing up, my neighborhood was full of imagination. We did things from neighborhood plays that we produced ourselves and found costumes for. We would sit on the street and learn songs. We would all play with make-up and do art projects. There are a lot of interests that I have including make-up that I have put on the back burner due to singing and music. My new years resolution was to tap into all these interests and get the ball rolling. I have always wanted to try photography. I've wanted to try it on random objects and nature. I want to write a couple of books. I want to learn more about make-up. I want to learn to sew....(not to design, but so I can fix my stuff when I need too..lol.) All of these things inspire me to want to be a better person and to gain knowledge in my life. Everybody likes to be good at something. We just need to be inspired and stick our selves out there and do it. My point is: I got asked by my husband if I was "prepared" to make videos. I told him, "Of course. I know I'm going to have haters or people who leave me mean and rude comments. But...I've been singing for so long and have had people judge me right to my face." I am inspired by beauty and make-up and always have been so I can't sit here and hide behind an interest and let my knowledge rot. Whether or not people like me is not an interest of mine. I just want to share my knowledge and have fun with this.

So...with inspiration in mind. I find make-up look inspirations from random things. It can be from a shirt, jewelry, a phone case etc. I figure if the colors go well together on the item and I like the way it looks...why not try to imitate it through make-up. The fun thing about make-up is it's your very own art. So....Try something new! If you like the way something looks on an item and feel it would make a great make-up look...Try it! Be daring and don't care what anyone thinks of you. The key to rocking make-up that's unusual is to be confident. Confidence shines through anything. If you feel that something inspires you go for it no matter what anyone else thinks or hates about it. I hope everyone likes my videos that I'll be posting very soon! I'm still looking for some more inspiration. So...leave comments about what kind of look you'd like for me to do!

Got my camera!

Yay! I got my camera today! I will hopefully be able to upload my first video this next week. The first one might be a quickie, but I have an awesome Mardi Gras look that's inspired by a celeb. I won't say who yet...because I have to keep you all on your toes! :)

Now...on to the answer to yesterdays little quiz question. The left eyeshadow was less expensive item. It's a matte eyeshadow by Revlon in Venetian Blue! As soon as I spotted this item I couldn't help but think, "MAC Electric Eel." That is the color that was on the right side. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE MAC products, but sometimes when we're low on cash (which happens to almost everybody) and pass by that lovely little counter we can't help but feel a little tug at our pocket books because those beautiful colors can be so tempting! If you have the cash then by all means, hook yourself up! We all know that MAC items are top of line, last a long time, and are super pigmented. But, understand that if you can't afford that lovely eyeshadow you've been eyeing there might be an awesome dupe out there for it. It just takes some time to look for it.

*Note: Before I get anybody saying that I am discouraging the purchase of cosmetic counter items...NOT TRUE! I own tons of cosmetic counter items. I am only encouraging smart thinking while shopping for your make-up. There are great finds everywhere! ;)

It doesn't have to be expensive to look good!

Today I had a gig (singing) and I went to pick something up at a friends house. He is a MAC fanatic (as a lot of us are) and immediately asked if I was wearing a look by MAC. When my answer was "NO" he seemed a little shocked. I was wearing a very vivid green and blue combo of eyeshadows and I was rocking my brand new Lady Gaga Lipstick. Oh....did I mention I was wearing my beautiful baby pink Lady Gaga lipstick? Haha! Kidding...but it is beautiful. Anyways...back to the point. The eyeshadows I was wearing were from a Cover Girl quad that my lovely friend Eliza got for me. He was shocked because when you see beautiful pigment on somebody's eyes your mind automatically thinks, "Expensive or cosmetics counter." It's all in the way you apply your eyeshadow that can make it look good. There's eye primers out there that make them last, eye primers that make them look more vibrant, and of course you have your handy dandy brushes that make the application smoother. Now...Once I can get a camera rolling I can talk about some of these things and even show you how to make an eye primer when you're short on cash. So...What did we learn today? Just because a product is NOT at a cosmetics doesn't mean it's going to look cheap on your face. Scour your drugstores and learn what quality eyeshadows should look like. Learn about color payoff. I bought an entire eyeshadow pallet during the holidays for 8 dollars and it has the most beautiful colors with excellent color payoff! Don't judge your make up by it's price. Also...Do know that just because a product IS at a cosmetics counter doesn't mean it's the best either. Educate yourself on quality items. If you don't have the cash to afford 14 dollar eyeshadows then DON'T BUY THEM! There's no sense in breaking the bank when you can find something just as fabulous for less money.

Here is an example:

I know the left photo is a bit small. But...these two colors are very similar in color and texture. EXCEPT one costs about 5 dollars and the other costs about 15. They can both wear the same with right eyelid prepping and this is obviously not a color that you would wear everyday so you might want to save those 10 bucks and buy a product that you will use everyday! Can you guess which eyeshadow is the more expensive one?

Loose powder is dangerous???

How many of us use loose powder to set foundations? How many of us use mineral powders because the commercials say they're so great you can sleep in them? A lot of us! I have used loose powder for years to set foundation or to even out skin tone in a pinch. Although mineral make-up doesn't do well on me, it does however look gorgeous on other people. So...why am I talking about loose powders? Because I was watching Dr. Oz the other day and came across some disturbing news. He had a segment on his show that talked specifically about loose powders. Crazy...I know! He considered it to be the most DANGEROUS item in a woman's make-up collection. New studies now show that while we apply these to our face we breathe in those little tiny particles of powder and they are scarring our lungs! Who would've thunk it? When we use a powder brush to apply the product we create a mist or cloud of powder in the air that we then inhale while either swiping it on our face or while gathering powder onto our brush. While I can't say that I will boycott loose powders all together I will definitely be more cautious while applying it. Use a sponge and press it into the skin rather than swiping it across the face or switch to pressed powder to be on the safe side. The key is...do NOT create a cloud of powder. :)

Be careful with those loose powders and pigments! Peace and love! <3

Suggestions are always needed!

I have so much in mind that I want to share with you all! Want to learn how to do an awesome smokey eye using only 2 eyeshadows? Want to know how to do different hairstyles using one tool? You'll be able to downsize your hair tool bag to just a few things. I'm going to teach you all how to save money and through my own personal testing these products will do the best job. I think it's a waste of money when you buy a product no matter how much it costs and it doesn't work the way you want it to. I have tried so many things from skin care, haircare, cosmetics, etc to find some of the best products at a bargain. I've bought high end products all the way down to dollar store items and you'll be surprised at what does the job. Let me know what you're interested in learning about so I can take all these ideas into consideration! Like I've said before, I'm working on getting an awesome camera so I can start video tutorials. Until then I will post blogs and pictures. Hopefully by the beginning of march I will find a camera that I love! Yep...that's me...Mrs. Picky! Peace and Love!

PS...These are some pictures that I took tonight through my cell phone of a friend of mine. We were playing around with some makeup. This is a look that would be perfect for the stage. It's uber dramatic and the highlighting will look fabulous under camera lights or stage lights! You can also use this look out at a club with dark lights. *This look would not look good under florescent lights or for daytime wear.

Some of the products used were:
Mac Paint Pot-Delft
Mac shadow- Plumage
Mac shadow-Carbon
Mac mineralize eyeshadow-Brightside
Mac liquid liner-black
Mac pencil-Black russian
Other colors from the Mac Black Collection!

How can you possibly blend all the colors of the world?

By using make-up! I first fell in love with make-up when I was a little girl. I would ask my mother to give me a kiss just so I could get some of the lipstick off of her lips and onto mine. I was fascinated with all the baskets of beauty products she had in her restroom cabinets and I couldn't wait until I was old enough to wear it myself. Finally in jr. high I came home from a slumber party doused in heavy foundation, lipstick, eyeliner...you name it I was wearing it. She then told me I could wear make-up, but it had to be light. She took me and bought me a make-up holder (which I still have and use for my nail polishes) and let me choose a lipstick, clear mascara, and a few other items. These were my beloved items that finally brought me into the beginning of woman hood! :) I got into so much trouble for coming home with tons of eyeliner, dark lipsticks, brown lipliner etc. Through all those mistakes and lots of time I finally got the correct way to apply make-up without looking like a hoodlum. Haha!

Move forward to age 19 where I thought I had it right as far as cosmetics were concerned, and take me to one of my other passions...singing! I got hired at a club inside of a club! Wierd huh? I worked at a club called Graham Central Station. It had 7 different clubs under 1 roof! I got hired as an Alleycat (hence the name) which is an entertainer in a karaoke club. Now...during this time this club had become the number 1 Graham Central Station out of all the GCS's through-out the nation, the number 1 chain club in the US, and the number 1 club in Texas. Talk about pressure! These guys and girls were something else. They were all so talented. I was told that I needed to be sexier. This meant NO PONYTAILS, darker make-up because the stage lights wash you out, and clothes that you could only get away with on stage! ;) I learned an entire new way of applying make-up to fit my "sexier" image. It had to make me look fabulous for about 8 hours a night without melting off or making me looked washed out. This is where I learned about contouring, highlighting, and all these other wonderful techniques I picked up along the way. I learned how to look slimmer in photos and fierce in front of the camera. I call my alter ego Miss Cherie. She's a totally different side of me that only comes out to play when the stage lights are on, the camera is flashing, and the music is bumping. The beauty of Miss Cherie is that I can change her up whenever I want to! I did some local modeling and sang at GCS until the stage lights were turned off for good. I will share tons of products I've come across that have worked well, crappy ones that aren't worth the buy, techniques I've learned, and answers to all the questions I've gotten over the years. I've learned tons about hair and skin care along with several other things. I've also learned about awesome make-up products that won't break your budget! The beauty of make-up is that it can bring out your best features and different sides of your personality. Before I get any flack I AM NOT a professional make-up artist I am just a girl who wants to share my love for cosmetics and helpful tips. Feel free to leave comments! :)

Peace and Love <3
